A couple of weeks ago, Apple released it's new iPad Air 2, featuring bumped up specs, Touch ID, and an 18% thinner chassis. Since its release, its received some bad feedback, most of which along the lines of "it's not different enough".
In this [first] edition of P2TD, I am going to explain who the iPad Air 2 is for, and why I personally am not getting one!

The first topic that I've actually been meaning to tackle is "does the iPad still have a niche in the Apple ecosystem?". I had planned on doing a standalone post on this, but I think this would be a good spot to put it in.
My answer is YES! But that doesn't apply to everyone. People looking for portable power may not be satisfied with an iPad. Casual people who wish to be productive may love the iPad. It really just depends. For me, since I do a lot of work at school, I love the iPad. It allows me to get work done without lugging around my laptop. Granted, there are some instances in which I have to bring my MacBook, or wish I would've brought my MacBook, but most of the time the iPad Air seems to be sufficient.
Soon to come: Where all Apple products fit in their own ecosystem.
In my opinion, the iPad has the potential to take over the education industry as a whole. It combines the portability and power with a reliable operating system set with millions of apps at full disposal. It's also cost efficient for most students and families, as a MacBook Air can be a bit pricey.
This leads me into the question of "who is the iPad Air 2 meant for?". Again, that really depends. For most students and teachers, the iPad Air 2 might be a bit much. For that group, the original iPad Air is more than sufficient. Unless of course storage space is in issue. Which, in the age of cloud storage, it might not be a problem.
For gamers, designers, and fanboys, the iPad Air 2 is perfect. According to DetroitBORG, a major tech YouTuber (part of #Fantastic4), the iPad Air 2 has the specs to be better than some of the original MacBook Airs. In my honest opinion, if you need that much power, you may be more satisfied with a MacBook Air, or even a Pro.
That is not to say that the iPad Air 2 is totally useless!
If you are thinking about delving in to the iOS world through iPad, the iPad Air 2 is a perfect place to start. However, if you've already got an iPad Air, it may not be as substantial of a jump. You WILL notice an increase in power and performance, but it is a similar package.
Though I am an Apple guy (not a fanboy, I'll explain that later), I don't plan on getting the iPad Air 2. Reason being, I am absolutely happy with the original Air, and can't really see it improving my set of daily drivers.
That's it for this post, I bid Power 2 You!
Peace ✌️
