Earlier this week, Microsoft held an event in which the new version of Windows was released. Windows 9 was skipped for a number of rumored reasons. Microsoft claims that the changes between Windows 8.1 and the new Windows are catastrophic, thus the jump to 10.
And they weren't kidding.
And they weren't kidding.
The new operating system features a redesigned Start menu; a feature that many begged and pleaded for. This new version features a fusion between the Start Menu found within Windows 7, and the one that lurked within Windows 8. It shows up as a small (and resizable) window in the bottom left corner of the screen. To the left, the Aero style shows up, but to the right, you see a number of Metro style Live Tiles.
Besides the Start Menu, several other features were added onto the task bar in the attempt to increase multitasking. A "Task View" button essentially displays the Mission Control of Windows. Outside of the task bar, new snap features make it easier than ever to arrange windows in almost any fashion.
And speaking of the window, it's important to note that everything runs in a window. Thats right, EVERYTHING. Even Metro Style Apps.

Soon To Come: My thoughts on Microsoft's and Apple's newest OS's.
